I did not study computer science because i wanted to study information management related course neither did i study computer science because i wanted to be a software developer. I must say that i happen to stumble upon computer science after three attempts to get admission in to the school i have all along dreamed of going to, ABU. My friends then told me the school was the best and i did everything humanly possible to get admission to that school but it just never happened. Had good JAMB scores that could have gotten me admission anywhere in the Nigerian schools but i was blinded with getting this particular school.
My original intention was to study Chemical Engineering and to end up in the oil and gas sector of the economy. I was good in Maths and so had no problem with that but all that changed when i woke up from the dream of getting admission to ABU.What followed was a re-orientation of my views on what to study and a good friend of mine advised me to go for the course i was given to study (Computer Science) I just settled for the course reluctantly not because i loved it them but because i had no other choice. But when i stayed through my second year i began to understand the essence of computer science not only in the world of information science but also in my view of life generally. I began to see life through the eyes of the creator and come to understand the way the natural laws of logic works.
I began to understand what it means to think in three dimension. to foresee what will happen when certain action is taken and to be prepared for it.
I began to understand this thing called information and how an information could change the course of human existence.
Today i have become a computer scientist against my wish but i am not regretting it at all.
